Pitu
Guli was born in Krusevo in the year of 1865. Even from an early age he
appeared as a free-thinker and a rebel. Because of bad family conditions,
at the age of seventeen in 1882, Pitu Guli leaves his country and goes
to Sophia as a fortune-seeker. In 1885, Pitu goes back to Macedonia but
aware of the condition, he forms a rebel squad and joins the revolutionary
movement.
When Pitu returned from Bulgaria he was sentenced to eight years of slavery from which he spent seven years in the prison of Trapezunt (Asia). In 1894 he returns to Krusevo, formed his family and as a member of TMORO (Secret Macedonian Ordin Revolutionary Organisation) he fully committed himself to the revolutionary activity. In 1902, Pitu leaves for Bulgaria again where he joins the squat of Toma Davidov but in an attempt to cross to Macedonia, Pitu was injured and had to go back to Bulgaria. Fully committed to the Macedonian National Revolutionary movement in March 1903, as a duke with his own squad and other dukes he crosses the Bulgarian-Macedonian border and leaves for Krusevo. From April to August 1903, he unrestly worked in the preparation of the Ilinden Uprising. During the time of the Ilinden Uprising, Pitu was a duke of a large rebel detachment The heroism of Pitu Guli has been described in many Macedonian songs.
