Ancient Macedonia was first formed in the second half
of VII B.C. During the centuries, the Macedonian borders changed and Macedonia
became "Ruler of the world" with Alexander the Great, who is also known
as Alexander the Macedonia.
The founder of the first Macedonian Kingdom was Perdika,
who lived and ruled from 707-645 B.C. The process of the forming of this
kingdom was not short, and it took another two centuries until Macedonia
became in power. Macedonian kings had battles many times with the neighbouring
enemies. Some of those kings include: Argej, Filip I, Aerop, Alketa,
Aminta, Aleksandar II, Perdika II, and Arhelaj. After them, Philip
II and his son Alexander III Aleksandar the Great came to the throne,
and expanded the Macedonian name throughout the world.
The biggest enemy of Macedonia at that time was Persia,
and some Greek city-states like Athens. Persia and Athens were also in
a conflict, which gave Macedonian rulers a good opportunity to expand their
empire. The situation changed very quickly, and Macedonia became powerful,
but at the same time became weak. Macedonia needed some changes, and King
Arhelaj I was the first one to start them. He moved his throne from
the mountainous city Ajga to Pella, and soon became friends with
the Athenians. After one unsuccessful war, Macedonia had to give hostages
to the Greek's. Philip was one of them, who later freed himself from the
slavery, and came to the throne of the Macedonian empire. Philip II, the
Macedonian (359-336 B.C) was getting ready for an attack on the Greek city-states.
In 338 B.C all Greek city-states were defeated and brought under Macedonian
rule.
Macedonia then became very powerful, and Philip II was
getting ready to expand his kingdom by concurring Persia, but he was killed.
Alexander continued his fathers dream's of conquest,
and has been the most successful Macedonian conqueror ever.
