KRSTE PETKOV MISIRKOV was
born in 1874 in the village of Postol, in Aegean Macedonia (near Pela,
the capital of Alexander the Great). While involved with his philological
and publicising work, his book on Macedonian Matters was published in 1903.
Misirkov prophetically foresaw the later situation in Macedonia and brought
into focus the viewpoints concerning the national and cultural development
of the Macedonian people. With this work, the Macedonian's were given a
significant and necessary book, in which the Macedonian individuality in
its ethnic, historical, cultural, and linguistic dimensions was explained.
More significantly where his thoughts on Misirkov, as they pertain to the
creation of the Macedonian literature language, which he dealt with scientifically.
Therefore, in 1945 the bases for the literary norms of the Macedonian language
in Macedonia were laid. The thoughts and ideas of this Macedonian scholar
and student of society were taken into consideration.
