King Marko (Krale Marko) was the son of Volkasin. According
to the national songs he was chubby, with long moustache, with a wolf fur
cap, a bears fur coat on his shoulders, very strong, fearless, fair and
honest. He protected the poor Macedonian people with no power, as he had
regular arguments and fights with the Turkish despots. He always emerged
as the winner and that is why everyone was scared and they avoided him.
The Macedonian people admired the brave King Mark this epic hero, because
they saw themselves as him and hoping for freedom.
