SPAS IN MACEDONIA

Macedonia is rich with natural resources such as: mineral water. Some of the popular spas are: Katlanovo Spa, Debar Spa, Kosovraska Spa, Negorecka Spa, Bansko Spa, Kumanovska Spa, Kezovica Spa.

KATLANOVO SPA

Katlanovo Spa is 28km from Skopje on the road to Veles. It was known already in Roman times. With several springs in the spa, the water temperature could be up to 46°C. However, while the mineral springs can be found, some are more or less sulphuric. The Turk's used the Katlanovo Spa as an excursion place known as "Taferic", but they also cured some diseases with the mineral water.

DEBAR SPA

Debar Spa is only 2km away from Debar, and at the same time, its powerful springs are close to Banjiste. The total amount of the jets water is 70 litres per second, while the temperature of the mineral water is 40°C. The sulphuric thermal water springs up with numerous bubbles of carbon dioxide in one basin, also known as the "An Iron Basin". According to the research data of experts the composite parts of mineral water are as follows: calcium, sulphate and hydro-carbon. It is considered that this very rare spa ranges, can cure rheumatism, skin diseases, gynaecological complaints and other problems. Pleasant surroundings with the slopes of mount Desan and the adequate altitude of 650m above sea level, will contribute to Debar spas becoming a significant place not only for cures but for recreation as well.

KOSOVRASKA SPA

Kosovraska Spa is on the right hand side of the road, near Boskov bridge. It is a hot sulphuric and mineral spa, well known for the curing of rheumatism and other diseases. Attention is drawn by numerous waterfalls over rocks of different colours. These colour's were created by the flow of mineral waters falling for centuries over them. The sulphuric smell can also be noticed far away from this place.

NEGORECKA SPA

Negorecka Spa is close to the village of Negorci, near Gevgelija. There is only modest accommodation available, but there are beautifully hot springs with warm mud that result in the temperature amounting to 42°C. This Spa is known to cure rheumatism, gynaecological and skin diseases.

BANSKO SPA

As Bansko Spa is 15m from Strumica, it possesses healing and curative mineral springs, and can be used in orangeries for early vegetables. Further, it is considered to be the warmest in Macedonia, as temperatures range to 75°C.

KUMANOVSKA SPA

Kumanovska spa has warm mineral water of 34°C. These springs particularly help in curing nervous complaints.

KEZOVICA SPA

Kezovica in the nearby surrounding area of Stip, has the Kezovica spa that holds hot radioactive water at 62°C. It cures the chronic diseases of the respiratory organs as well as digestion, gynaecological diseases and rheumatism.
