Montenegro was the first to participate in the Balkan
War on 9 October, 1912, but the official start of the war on the 18 October
1912, when the armies of Serbia, Bulgaria and Greece attacked Turkey. The
Serbian army after the three day war at Kumanovo, took over Skopje without
fighting, and continued with their victories in other places. Bigger battles
with the Turk's occurred at Babuna, then at Bakarno Gumno and through Kosovo,
the Serbian army spread to the Adriatic coast. During October, it also
occupied West Macedonia and Albania.
The Bulgarian army occupied East Macedonia up to the
river Mesta, and the shores of the Aegean Sea (Egejsko More), east
of Solun (Thessaloniki today). The Greek army freed Epir and the
island of Crete, than occupied Aegean Macedonia.
After these wars, Macedonia was divided into three parts
amongst Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria.
